GF Piping Systems reaches milestone with carbon neutral operations in Seewis (Switzerland)

As the leading flow solutions provider, GF Piping Systems is committed not only to enabling the sustainable transport of fluids, but also to providing its solutions in a sustainable manner. In line with this, GF Piping Systems has been taking steps to reduce its environmental impact in its Seewis production facility in the Swiss canton of Grisons. The site has now reached carbon neutral status (scope 1 and 2). This achievement highlights GF Piping Systems’ ongoing commitment to minimize resource consumption.

Key measures to reduce scope 1 and scope 2 emissions at the GF Piping Systems plant in Seewis included making a switch to renewable electricity, installing more efficient injection molding machines, smart lighting control, waste heat recovery measures and better insulation for solutions with a lower carbon footprint – an advantage also for GF Piping Systems’ customers.

Seewis has reduced its scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 62.8% in 2023 as compared to the baseline year 2019. The annual residual emissions are offset with carbon credits. With the purchased credits, the plant is supporting the project Oberallmig in the canton of Schwyz (Switzerland) for improved forest management, taking responsibility for the remaining unabated emissions that continue to be released into the atmosphere.

Nicolas Schulz, Global Chief Operating Officer at GF Piping Systems said: “The remarkable progress at our plant in Seewis underscores our unwavering dedication towards continuously reducing our environmental impact. By implementing innovative practices and technologies in our manufacturing processes, we are significantly lowering our carbon footprint, providing our customers with products that further support their sustainability goals.”

Seewis Plant Manager Oliver Hilbrand is proud of his team: “Thanks to our excellent team on-site and collaboration with global operations, we have been able to achieve this milestone. Going forward, we will continue to support our division in achieving its climate targets, by further implementing measures to improve our energy efficiency.”

With 190 employees, the plant in Seewis produces cutting-edge plastic valves and actuators, including the state-of-the-art pressure regulating valve NeoFlow, for the effective prevention of water loss.
