GF Piping Systems wins German Innovation Award with the IR-63 M fusion machine
After launching the IR-63 M in early 2024, the Swiss flow solutions provider has received the Innovation Award in the category of Excellence in Machines & Engineering on May 14th in Berlin.
The German Innovation Award was established by the German Design Council and honors products, projects, and pioneering achievements that sustainably improve life through innovation and progress. The IR-63 M infrared (IR) fusion machine, which features an updated UX/UI concept co-developed with Busse Design and Engineering GmbH, was awarded in the business-to-business category Machines & Engineering which focuses on areas such as process and manufacturing techniques.
On the heels of 32 years of infrared fusion development, the IR-63 M maintains established technology while integrating new hardware and software features for faster, more convenient, and more efficient welding. In addition to an optimized clamping unit and a patented adjustable pipe stop, the IR-63M features a new 7” touchscreen protected by safety glass, offering intuitive navigation and multilingual instructions for a streamlined user experience. Moreover, the Connectivity Box facilitates access to GF Piping Systems’ cloud service, “CONNECT Welding Data”, enabling the seamless transfer of welding protocols and documentation.
The IR-63 M ensures contact-free and high-quality pipe connections for the materials PVDF, ECTFE, PPH, PP-n, PE100, PFA, and PVC-U in the chemical processing, microelectronics, or water treatment sectors. The updates have resulted in 20% shorter preparation times, 30% fewer process steps, and 50% shorter cooling times.
Benedikt Engesser, Head of R&D IR / BCF Welding at GF Piping Systems, is proud of the team: “While the IR-63 M features a number of hardware upgrades, we put a lot of effort into providing unparalleled accessibility for the end user, leading to significant increases in reproducibility, reliability, and efficiency. Thanks to a strong collaboration with Busse Design and Engineering GmbH, the team was able to revolutionize the design.”
